A good teacher is like a shining star to students. Miss Li, my senior high school English teacher, is a shining star in my life. When I began my senior high school years, I had difficulty in learning English. I dared not speak English aloud in public because of my poor pronunciation and intonation. I could not get high marks and my grammar was not right at all. Frustrated and afraid of being laughed at, I never put up my hand to answer questions in English class. When Miss Li found out my situation, she encouraged me and lent me a hand. She patiently taught me English grammar, helped me understand how to write a good sentence,and lent me many English books and magazines, which rapidly improved my English. With her help, I became interested in English and eventually got high marks.

things in the world.But I dont think so. In my opinion, to read books is more valuable than anything else. The old saying “To open a book is always helpful” clearly tells us how good it is to read a book.
Books are our friends. They introduce us different kinds of knowledge. They lead us down the road to success.
Books are our teachers. They teach us troth, science,
literature, and philosophy of life. Besides, they increase our knowledge, enlarge our experience,strengthen our character and do many other things which we can not do without them. Books tell us what is good and what is evil. And only books can tell the good from the bad.
Therefore to read more books is the best policy for our young students.

The lucky-number has become increasingly popular in daily life of modern sociality. For example, the number eight means big money which people like most, while the number four means death. Some people believe lucky numbers so deeply that they will afford a telephone with numbers without four and others which is bad in their mind. They argue that the lucky-number really can bring good luck, and, at least, no evidence testifies they can not. As far as I am concerned, there is no such relationship between the numbers and lucky, for the reason that numbers their self are given certain meaning for the purpose of application of mathematic. And, in addition, man should not depend on lucky which, in their mind, the numbers gives them.
