　　The Bamboo 竹子

　　Bammboo grows up straight and thin, with branches at the top. It has long leaves. It looks like a tree, but it is really a kind of grass.

　　There are more than five hundred kinds of bamboo in the world. Some grow over ten meters tall. Some are only a few inches tall. Bamboo grows best in warm and wet places.

　　The long stem of bamboo is hollow. They are light and strong. People use them to build houses and bridges. Bamboo is also made into paper. People like to eat them.

　　我今年八歲了，是黑芝麻胡同小學一名一年級的小學生，過了暑假就要升入二年級了。剛入學的時候，媽媽就給我報了英語課程班，開始我不太喜歡學英語，課前不預習，也不按老師要求點讀，根本達不到老師的要求，學不好英語，我自己也很著急。

　　有一天放學回家，媽媽催我趕快點讀當天的課程，我沒有照做。于是，爸爸讓我翻開課本讀一讀，我根本讀不出來，大部分單詞都不會，爸爸也著急了。正好要放寒假了，我決心把英語趕上去。每天，我早晨起來后就一遍一遍地點讀課文，然后背單詞，最后達到熟讀課文的`水平。經(jīng)過幾天的努力，終于把一個單元的內(nèi)容學會了，有時候累得真想哭呀！就這樣，我堅持每一個上午的英語學習，不到一個月，就把一個學期的內(nèi)容都學會了。

　　第二學期開始了，我明顯能夠跟上老師的進度了，每天堅持點讀、背誦課文。一共進行了三次考試，我從第十一名逐漸提升到了第三名，老師還專門讓我向全班同學介紹學習經(jīng)驗。

　　一年級結束后，我被分到了精品班，現(xiàn)在我每次課堂聽寫、讀書、背誦都很熟練，我也真正地喜歡上了英語。俗話說：“世上無難事，只怕有心人”。只要能夠堅持，就一定能學好英語。

　　如今，我又一次發(fā)現(xiàn)英語比什么科目都重要，上大學過英語四級最重要的事情之一。但是我的'英語水平太一般，每次的期末考試試卷難度不是很大，成績卻也不高，主要是因為上大學也不怎么學習英語了！但是考四級要得是自己的真實才能，平時不努力學習，想要憑借運氣，這就不科學了，而且我的運氣一直不好，所以我沒有想過不努力會有收獲。

　　一直都有人告訴我們英語四級考試是很困難的，過關率普遍不高，而且你又是一個不擅長英語的，就更不行了，所以要努力學習英語。老師與一個學長建議我們先買一個真題做一做，而且要努力。我現(xiàn)在才意識到，如果當初我的英語水平低的時候，就努力提高，現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)什么問題都沒有了吧！
